Wii Fit ...Weekend Recap

This past weekend my wonderful luver aaron got me a Wii Fit!!! i was so excited but couldn't get time to play it until Saturday. It is so neat!

First off you get a board type thing that you stand on throughout almost all of the exercises. it's amazing how accurate a video game can be....it weighs you down to the .1 of a pound! So when you start it up you tell it your height and how old you are...then it weighs you and gives you your Body Mass Index (BMI) and tells you if you fall in the healthy, underweight, or overweight range.

after it tells you all of your info you can set a goal weight to reach or a goal BMI to reach sometime in the future...i set mine for 2 weeks (which is the fair and a family members wedding) and set my goal to lose 4 lbs so i can be an even 120 lbs!

after you set your goal you start your training...there are 5 categories to pick from Yoga, Strength Training, Aerobics, and Balance Games.

Yoga was a lot of fun and i was actually really good at it. the thing i like about working out at home with the wii is that it can tell exactly how much weight you are applying to the board and how your balance is...so if your not doing the move right it will tell you and show you how to fix it!! so i feel like im actually getting something accomplished rather than standing around in a warrior pose just to end up pulling a muscle!

Strength Training was exercises similar to the ones you used to do in P.E. in high school. there are push up, crunches type things (i'm super good at those!) and other squat and lunch type of workouts. After each workout or pose that you accomplish you get a score based on your balance and how many you did...if you do well you can unlock other poses or workouts.

Aerobics exercises are fun and get you blood a pumpin. the first one i did was the hula hoop one let me tell ya i look ridiculous try to move my hips in "a wide circle" to earn the most points...another is a excises where you step on and off of the wii board to the rhythm of the beat. you go front and back side to side, then you have to walkin on the sideways and lift a leg and clap...i love doing this one! running is my weakest exercise but its really neat how this one works...you don't stand on the board to run in place but you do put the wii remote in your pocket or in my case in my waist band and run in place...the remote moves with your body and keep tracks of the bounces you make while running and make you wii run at the same speed your actually running in place...i get so wrapped up in watching the wii run that i kind of forget i'm really running! other exercise include boxing!

Balance Games or more for the people in your family don't want to subject themselves to EXERCISE so they just play theses (MOM!) but they are a lot of fun! i really suck at the soccer one.. ppl throw soccer balls at you and you have to hit them with your head..but then it gets tricky when they start throwing shoes at you and you have to duck at the same time. i suck at the skiing one too...i can't get the whole barely leaning thing down..i am good at the ski jump tho! you have to hunker down, all while keeping your balance perfect, and then jump at the precise time (without jumping off the board!!) and land keeping your balance. i just started snow boarding and it's even worse than skiing. another one is the table tilt you'll just have to loo at the picture to see what i'm talking about...haha basically just lean till the balls go in the holes. not as simple as it sounds tho...

the wii fit also gives you a wii fit age...right now mine is at 25..only 5 years older than i really am so i don't think that's too bad! it will also keep track of everything little thing you do on your chart/calender each day you take your body test you get to mark the calender with a neat-o stamp-o.

throughout the whole game it will give you small hints about posture, balance, and weight...it's really helpful and i had no idea that people with poor posture were more likely to be overweight than those who have great posture!

Overall the Wii Fit is AMAZING and i can't wait to see if i can see results with my goal set and me determined!! wish me luck and i'll try to keep you posted :)
